There are so many beautiful beaches in Mallorca and we were really surprised with how much we enjoyed them! When you are spoilt for choice, picking a beach for the day becomes so much harder. These were our favourite beaches from our time in Mallorca and where to stay nearby.
When heading to Mallorca we would recommend visiting in the shoulder season (May/June & Sept/Oct) so that you are able to enjoy all of its beautiful beaches without the crowds. We visited in May and the temperature was great and the crowds, though there was some, were manageable.

Cala LLombard
Best for: long lazy beach days
This was by far our favourite beach on the trip. Located 60kms east of Palma and only 10kms from Santanyi, this beach is very accessible by car. We were slightly unsure whether it would be enjoyable or not considering this beach is highly photographed and shown on Instagram. In saying that, we would highly recommend that you arrive at the beach early in the morning as parking spaces fill up fast.
When you arrive at the beach you have a large enough area of sand to spread out on for the day however if you’re looking for a slightly quieter space we would recommend heading to either the right or left of the beach on the rocks. From here you also have access straight into the water.
Where to stay?
Finca Hotel Rural Es Turo
Cala Pi
Best for: sheltered swimming area with places to jump off cliffs
Located 35kms from Palma this very narrow beach has some of the most distinct green water that we have ever seen! The beach itself is very small however rather deep so you may have to walk through the crowds to access the beach. Along the waterside on the rocks however, there is space to relax out in front of the old fishing huts.
Surrounding Cala Pi are several resorts and restaurants and due to this the street parking is very limited. To be able to secure a spot it is worth heading there early or parking further away and walking down into the nearby town.
Where to stay?
Agroturismo Can Canto de Marina
Blau Còlonia Sant Jordi
Cala Del Moro / S’Almonia
Best for:
This absolutely stunning beach is probably one of the smallest beaches on the list so be prepared. If you want your own patch of sand it would be wise to arrive around 9 am, even in shoulder season. There is free parking a short walk from the beach however the walk down isn’t the most accessible and it might be worth bringing some decent shoes to be able to get down to the beach itself.
If Cala del Moro is too crowded then you can head to S’Almonia which has two seperate areas to be able to access the water. The access into the water here wasn’t as nice as the beach at Cala del Moro however if you’re looking for a place to swim before your walk back up the stairs then it is worth it.
Where to stay?
S’Hotelet de Santanyí
Cala Figuera
Best for: for relaxing port strolls and afternoon dips
This isn’t exactly the best place to swim however its an absolutely beautiful area to be by the sea. The port itself is lined with lots of great seafood resturants over looking the water. Around the port there are small areas where you can swim and also head further around the coast to Cala Sirena which has access via a staircase into the water.
The area though gets very busy as glass bottom boats pick up and drop off in this area, however once they have departed the crowds are not so bad.
Where to stay?
Villa Lorenzo
Hotel Nou Can Guillem
Cala Mondrago / S’Amarador
Best for: when other beaches might be crowded
Cala Mondrago and S’Amarador are two beach located inside the national park. As they are part of the national park this beach has its own designated parking a short walk from the beach itself which is around €6 per car. This beach is also very accessible with the bus if you’re staying in near by Potopetro or Cala D’or.
For these beaches you’re able to park at either of the beaches and there is a coastal walking path between them. When we arrived we parked at one beach however decided to spend the day at the other. Both beaches have kiosks and facilities to use while at the beach however we packed our own picnic so we did not try them.

Beaches we didn’t have time to make it to:
- Es Trend: This is one of the longest sandy beaches on Mallorca however it is also the most well known. Though reviews suggest that it is a big enough beach that even in peak summer the beach still doesn’t seem crowded.
- El Caragol: We were recommended this beach by a local however the reason we didn’t visit this beach as we ran out of time. To get to the beach it is around a 20 minute walk from the car park down to the beach, it also has no amenities here so make sure to take everything with you that you need.
- Cala Deia: Unfortunately when we tried to visit this beach the road was already so packed that everyone was turning their cars around to head back. If you want to go here make sure to go early in the morning and also book if you are wanting to eat down at the resturants as it gets very busy.
