How to get to Sardinia?
To get to Sardinia from London you have two main options of airports to fly into. Most airlines including Ryanair, Easyjet and British Airways fly from London to Cagliari (in the south) in around 3 hours. However we chose for this trip to visit Olbia, flights from London run direct with Easyjet from London to Olbia in 2.5 hours.
How to get around Sardinia?
Firstly, to be able to get around Sardinia we would definitely recommend hiring a car! We did see plenty of buses and if you wanted to do it without a car you would be able to stay in Olbia and catch various busses to different beaches. However this really limits you to some of the more touristy beaches. Having the car really gave us the freedom to explore lots of different parts of the North of Sardinia.
To give you an idea on the size of the island to drive from Olbia (in the north) to Cagliari (in the south) it would take you around 3 hours by car. However if you are to take the same journey by bus it would take over 4 hours with multiple changes.
What to do in Sardinia?
There are many different tours, activities and options of things to do while in Sardinia!
Boat Tour
One of the days we spent our day on board a dingy from Tortuga Escursions. This tour took us from Santa Maria Navarrese to Cala Sisine. While on board we also had multiple other beach stops and swimming opportunities off the boat.
La Maddelena
If you had more time in Sardinia, which we unfortunately didn’t, we would have liked to check out La Maddelena. La Maddelena is an archipelago located north of Olbia. We flew over these islands when coming into Sardinia and they looked beautiful. For more advice on planning this part of the holiday head over to Stricly Sardinia’s posts for more information.

Where to stay?
Tortora Bnb
We stayed at the beautiful Tortora BnB. It is a newly renovated B’n’B in the small town of Galtelli. Breakfast was provided everyday, which consisted of an amazing spread of freshly baked goods, fruits, cheeses and much more. Galtelli itself was a very small town however it was a short drive to nearby beaches and towns.
Felix Hotel Olbia
Hotel Terranova
On our last night we also spent a night in Olbia at Hotel Terranova which was an average hotel located in a great spot in Olbia. Olbia itself can be a bit of a party town over the summer so we were kept awake until the early hours of the morning due to the lack of sound proofing in the hotel.
Albergo Diffuso Mannois, Orosei
Areas we would recommend to stay in North Sardinia are:
📍Orosei
📍Olbia
📍San Teodoro
📍Baunei
📍Cala Gonone
