So what exactly is a campervan relocation?
A van relocation is as it sounds, moving a campervan for hire companies between cities. Doing this is cheaper than standard hire however you’re limited on the time you have between locations. Relocations can be found directly through companies websites or third party websites such as imoova or transfercar.
We used the app WikiCamps to be able to find the best places for us to stop overnight. As this camper van didn’t have a toilet and shower we were limited with spots however through the app you are able to filter for overnight stops with toilets. All the campsite locations below can easily be searched for in WikiCamps.

How to drive your campervan from Perth to Adelaide?
After arriving in Australia after not being in the country in 4 years we wanted to be able to spend some time to be able to explore our own backyard. Both of us are from opposite sides of the country, this meant splitting out time between East and West Coast. We wanted from Perth to Sydney and prices for flights were expensive, it was a similar cost for us to drive a Campervan relocation across and embrace the adventure as it did to for us to take a single flight.

Day 1
Perth – Norseman 799kms
Campsite: Ten Mile Rocks
It will take the first two days to get out of WA, be prepared for some big driving days!
To make sure you are prepared we recommend going food shopping before hand and have a read through Our 10 Essentials for Your Next Campervan Adventure. If you’re hiring a van relocation arrive at opening time so that you can get on the road as early as you can!
On your way out of Perth you will pass through York, the oldest inland town of WA. The buildings here are beautiful and well maintained it is worth a stop to quickly stretch your legs. Merredin is the next large town that is a great place for lunch with multiple bakeries and cafes. Continue past Norseman, make sure that you have topped up your fuel (here they also had very handy print outs of the location of all the fuel stops on the Nullabor), to where you will find your campsite for tonight.

Day 2
Norseman – Bunda Cliffs 660 kms
Campsite: Bunda Clifftop Western View
On the second day make sure to start nice and early as there is lots of things to be able to tick off today. You start the morning with Australia’s Longest Straight Road, make sure to check out in advance where the sign for the road is so you are able to stop and get a photos. If you’re after a roadhouse lunch then make sure to time your stop in Eucla and fill up your fuel tank before continuing onto tonights camp spot.
*Due to the winds and the camping equipment you have available Bunda Cliffs may not be the best place to stop however there are multiple places on the opposite side of the road that are more sheltered.*

Day 3
Bunda Cliffs – Smoky Bay 503kms
Campsite: Smoky Bay Caravan Park
Waking up to the sound of the wakes crashing on the Great Australian Bight never looked so beautiful. If you’re travelling between June to October make sure to make your morning coffee here and keep an eye out for whales in the area. From here you will head back inland so enjoy all the coastal views while they lasted. Once you reach Smoky Bay sure to stop off at the oysters on the way into town however most of sheds close around 4pm.

Day 4
Smoky Bay – Streaky Bay – Port Pirie 547kms
Campsite: Lawrie Park
This morning treat yourself by getting up early and heading into Streaky Bay for breakfast. Todays drive is all inland as you’re cutting across to get as close to Adelaide as you can today. Try to time your stop for lunch in Kimba as it is a beautiful little down with shops and a few landmarks to see. For the camping spot tonight it is a donation based campsite that is very well known by the friendly locals who came and shared with us a few tips.

Day 5
Port Pirie – Clare Valley – Greenock 197kms
Campsite: Greenock Centenary Park
For Day 5 we timed out breakfast stop in the small town of Clare. For a different way to get around and see the wineries in Clare you can use Clare Valley Bike Hire to be able to get around at your own pace, this is great if you have an extra night to be able to spend here. If you also have some more time to spend in Barossa you can do a Full Day Private Wine Tour which we would have loved to do as it becomes hard who gets to do tasting while driving. We were lucky however that the campsite for tonight is located right behind Kalleske a family run cellar which means you can walk to the tasting and not have to worry about driving home.
